Day of Death

  • Jul. 31st, 2007 at 1:38 AM

Wow...yesterday was the Day of Death with 3 notable personalities kicking the bucket...

Famous Swedish director Ingmar Bergman died at the age 89, just a few days after his birthday.  He is of no relation to famous Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman, although his 5th wife was named Ingrid and did a little bit of acting.  Ummm, I can't really tell you what movies he's famous for...even after reading his obituary, I can't say I'd heard of the movies mentioned.  But he's famous ya'll.

Also dead yesterday - talk show host Tom Snyder.  He died at the age of 71 from leukemia.  I'm told he was funny, but in the interviews I saw him do, he always struck me as serious and not funny.  He basically pioneered LATE LATE talkshows...when all other channels signed off.  *sigh*  I actually kind of miss TV stations signing off.

And finally Football coach Bill Walsh also died of leukemia at the age of 75.  Anyways, I'm not really sure who he is except that the sportscasters say he was very important to football.  I guess he coached MY team (the 49ers) and led them to 3 superbowls back to back.  (I'm a bad fan!  I just remember Montana and Rice...were there any other 49ers??)

In keeping with the sports theme...
