Blast from the Past

You all know I'm a Days of Our Lives fan, but there were 2 other soaps I used to watch periodically.  One of the best soaps ever was the short-lived Santa Barbara.  It premiered, if memory serves me, during the summer of 1984 (LA summer Olympics) and it was the first soap where I actually tuned in from the very beginning.  Even though I was only a wee lass of 10 at the time, I really loved the show.  Unfortunately, I can't remember much about the storylines.

What I DO remember is that it centered around the Capwell family and their nemeses the Lockridge family.  There were 4 Capwell kids: Mason, Kelly, Ted and Eden.  Kelly was my favorite character for some reason...not sure why, but she was played by Robin Wright (Penn)...before her big break in the Princess Bride.  Mason Capwell was also a great character and played sexily by Lane Davies.  Anyways, I just came across some pics of the show today and took a trip down memory lane.  Santa Barbara suffered from a lot of behind-the-scenes drama and low ratings (NBC's daytime curse), and met an early demise in 1993.  It would be nice if they would re-air this show on the Soap Network or some other channel...until then, there's always very poor quality clips on You Tube.  Santa Barbara also had one of the best opening theme songs (first video).  Hahaha...the promos (2nd video) are pretty funny/cheesey
