Death at a Funeral

This cute independent British movie was much funnier than I expected and just a joy to watch.  I love movies that make light of dark situations...gee if only there was a term for such things...

Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, but didn't expect much going into it.  Some of the characters were annoying...but it was nice to see Spud from Trainspotting again.  I guess he's been in other movies I've seen since Trainspotting, but this was the first movie where I was like..."Spud!".  And Alan Tudyk really stole most of the scenes.  His character was brilliant.  He also stole a scene in Knocked-Up.  I think this guy is going places...

Super Bad

Yes...this movie is funny.  You'll chuckle.  Laugh even.  Alright, you'll downright pee your pants watching this movie.  I did...but don't tell my date...he just thought that smell was my perfume!  Anyways, if you want a funny movie, then this is it.  HOWEVER...I do not feel comfortable recommending it for children (it's rated R) or even its core demographic - high school students.  The humor is very crude and definitely from a male perspective.  Now, other crude rated R comedies like 40-year Old Virgin (not THAT crude) or even Knocked-Up had a much more balanced perspective between male and female.  But I really did not feel any realistic female POV in this movie.  However, the characterization of the males in this movie is more or less dead-on.  And I definitely loved Bill Hader and Seth Rogen as the cops.

If you're not a moron or an immature guy (is there any other kind) then I definitely hope you see this movie.  And for the security of my job...I hope even the rest of you see it...2 or 3 times.  But I just feel like the last thing jerky high school guys or frat boys need is another movie about how to score with chicks, humiliate them, or party all night until your drunk and having sex with your neighbor's goat.
